La Familia de al Lado (International Title: The Next Door Family) is a Chilean telenovela based on one of José Ignacio Valenzuela's books. The telenovela was produced by the Chilean national channel TVN (Chile) and aired by the same channel from September, 2010 through March, 2011, and stars Álvaro Rudolphy, María Elena Swett, Jorge Zabaleta, and Cristián Arriagada. La Casa de al Lado (English - The House Next Door) is a remake of the original telenovela adapted by José Ignacio Valenzuela and produced by the American Spanish-language network Telemundo.
Plot
Renato Fabres (Jaime Vadell) is a prosperous businessman who has learned to move with great intelligence and success in the business world. His name is synonymous to power, wealth and success. Together with Eva, his severe wife, he has created a family to be proud of: they have three children - Ignacia, Carola and Benjamín. Javier Ruiz-Tagle (Jorge Zabaleta) and Pilar Echeñique (María Elena Swett), meanwhile, are their perfectionist neighbors. They like to do things properly. Being well-off, educated, and honored, they are seemingly a happy marriage with two wonderful children, Andrea and Diego. A perfect family worthy of being envied. The Fabres and the Ruiz-Tagle have been friends for years. They are famous, respected, and good neighbors. For years the two families have lived in perfect harmony. While Fabres' many businesses march splendidly, Pilar and Javier's marriage seems to have been blessed with a peaceful and successful existence. But the untimely arrival of Gonzalo Ibáñez (Álvaro Rudolphy) and the immediate affection that flares between him and Pilar will change their lives forever. So will the presence of the handicapped Leonardo Acosta Errázuriz (Cristián Arriagada) in the house of their neighbors, the Fabres.
