Production

In August 2015, it was announced Greta Gerwig would write and direct the film, with Scott Rudin, Eli Bush and Evelyn O’Neill producing the film.^[1] In January 2016, Saoirse Ronan joined the film.^[2] In March 2016, it was announced Sam Levy would serve as the director of photography on the film.^[3] In September 2016, John Karna, Tracy Letts, Beanie Feldstein, Laurie Metcalf and Timothée Chalamet joined the cast of the film.^[4] That same month, Jordan Rodrigues joined the cast of the film.^[5]

Filming

Principal photography began on August 30, 2016.^[6]
