The Lagos Court of Arbitration was established by the LCA Law 17 of 2009. The LCA was established with the following objectives;

The LCA was formally launched on November 9, 2012 at the opening of the Kuramo Conference; an international biennial summit hosted Lagos, Nigeria.[2][3]

Partnerships

The LCA began a partnership with the International Senior Lawyers Project (ISLP), in 2013 to assist with building legal capacity and to support the proliferation of arbitration and mediation services in the region.[4]

In December 2014, the LCA entered a partnership with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre (LCCIAC), to promote Lagos as the centre of choice for the resolution of Africa related arbitrations. The “Arbitration in Lagos” project is committed to continuous engagement with the legislature and judiciary of Nigeria, to ensure far reaching constitutional and legislative reform and also support efficient and expeditious enforcement of arbitral awards.[5]
