Lammermoor is a seaside community on the tropical Central Queensland coast. It is within the local government area of Shire of Livingstone (between 2008 and 2013, it was within the Rockhampton Region).
Geography
Lammermoor is nestled against the Pacific Ocean overlooking Keppel Bay, and is centrally located on the Capricorn Coast, five kilometres (3.1 mi) south of Yeppoon, and 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) north of Emu Park.
Often regarded as a suburb of Yeppoon, Lammermoor is in fact a separate locality like its neighboring suburb Taranganba.
The Scenic Highway is the main drive for locals and tourists which is passes along the beach of Lammermoor.
Population
In the 2011 census, Lammermoor had a population of 1316 people.
Community
Lammermoor is a steadily growing community. Several major land developments in Tarranganba and the neighbouring localities of Lammermoor and Taroombal are filling quickly with demand from the mining boom.
Lammermoor features a Catholic School, Sacred Heart School Yeppoon, while secondary students travel to Yeppoon.
Many residents of Lammermoor work in Rockhampton City and live on the coast.
Recent History
Prior to Local Government Amalgamations in 2008, the Capricorn Coast was administered by Livingstone Shire Council. From 2008 to 2013, it was part of Rockhampton Region. In 2014, the Shire of Livingstone was re-established and now administers Lammermoor.
