Lauren Whyte
Lauren Whyte (born February 10, 1991) is an American volleyball player. She was born and raised in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, where she led her high school volleyball team to an undefeated 29-0 state championship season in 2009. Her performance throughout her high school career earned her many awards including 1st Team All-Ohio and the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year award.
Following high school, Whyte attended George Washington University from 2009-2013, where she competed as a four-year starter on the Colonial's varsity volleyball team.[1] Throughout her tenure as a Colonial, she garnered several Atlantic 10 Conference awards as well as district and academic awards. In 2014, she began playing with the Chesapeake Rising Tide USA Premier Volleyball Team. She has competed in three USA PVL National Championships, finishing 9th in 2014, 7th in 2015, and 3rd in 2016.[2]
Whyte has recently completed her rookie professional season as an outside hitter (position 4) in the Azerbaijan Superleague with Azeryol Baku for the 2015-16 season.[3] Azeryol competed in both the Azerbaijan Superleague and the CEV Cup, finishing in 4th and 3rd places, respectively. The team was brought down in the CEV Cup by the eventual champions, Dinamo Krasnodar. The 3rd-place finish was Azeryol's highest finish in a CEV sanctioned event.
