Liam an Dúna Mac Cairteáin
Liam an Dúna Mac Cairteáin, Irish poet, 1668–1724.
Mac Cairteáin was a Jacobite, and served as an officer in a regiment raised by the MacCarthy or MacCartney family. He fought at the battle of Beal Atha Salainn (Six Mile Water, County Antrim 29 April 1691) a few miles from his native home, where he led the men of his district in an ambush on a group of Williamite soldiers.
Mac Cairteáin died in November in 1724. His son, Donall an Dúna Mac Cairteáin, received all his books .
