Lignano Pineta is a frazione of the city of Lignano Sabbiadoro, comune in the province of Udine, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of north-eastern Italy. It is one of the main summer resorts in northern Italy.
History
At 5 June 1953, the first tractor begin to ride the dunes of the pine forest marking the first streets of Lignano Pineta. Lignano Pineta originated through the initiative of a group of local entrepreneurs, who realize an innovative development project in a spiral shape designed by architect Marcello D'Olivo. This project has been taken by many magazines for its originality and functionality, and because it has scarred the landscape and the pine forest, the construction or snail-shaped spiral "green", has been reported on the emblem on the flag and then the city of Lignano Sabbiadoro.
