Lisa Jakub is a Canadian-American actress and writer. Her roles include Lydia Hillard in Mrs. Doubtfire and Alicia Casse in Independence Day.
Early life and career
Jakub was born on December 27, 1978 in Toronto, Ontario. She is of Slovak (father) and Welsh and Scottish (mother) descent.[1]
Her first role was in the 1985 film Eleni. She later appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire, played Sandra in Matinee, appeared in A Pig's Tale and Independence Day, The Beautician and the Beast and played the "inspiration" for Princess Leia in the short film George Lucas in Love. She starred in Picture Perfect (1995) and portrayed a bordello worker in the American Old West in Painted Angels (1997).
Personal life
After retiring from acting in 2001 at the age of 22,[2] Jakub moved to Virginia and married longtime partner, a former Hollywood theater manager, Jeremy Jones.[3]
Jakub has publicly stated that she has no plans to return to acting.[4] She has written about her experiences as a child actor.[5] When Jakub received the part of Lydia in Mrs. Doubtfire, her school expelled her.[6] Her book You Look Like That Girl was released on June 30, 2015.[7]
