- †† Jay Kingi-Cross was born in Wellington, New Zealand, but moved to Australia with her parents at age 4.[53]
- ††† Leilani Mitchell was born in Richland, Washington USA to an Australian mother and American father and has dual citizenship. In December 2013, Mitchell pledged her allegiances to, and represents Australia internationally.[54][55]
- †††† Kelsey Griffin was born in Eagle River, Alaska USA. Having obtained Australian citizenship in November 2015, Girffin pledged her allegiances to, and represents Australia internationally.[56]
- ††††† Liz Cambage was born in London, England, to a Nigerian father and Australian mother, but moved to Australia with her mother at three months old.[57]
Notes
- In the 2000 WNBA draft, Natalie Porter was selected in round 4 (pick 61 overall) by the New York Liberty, but left training camp because of homesickness and was released without playing a WNBA game.[58]
- In the 2006 WNBA draft, Renae Camino was selected in round 2 (pick 24 overall) by the Houston Comets, but did not play because of injury.[59] Camino was drafted again in the 2009 dispersal draft (pick 7) by the Sacramento Monarchs, but returned to Australia without playing a WNBA game.[60][61]
- In the 2006 WNBA draft, Jessica Foley was selected in round 3 (pick 38 overall) by the Indiana Fever, but did not play because of injury.[62] In 2008, Foley was traded to the Connecticut Sun, but returned to Australia without playing a WNBA game.[63]
- In the 2006 WNBA draft, Marita Payne was selected in round 3 (pick 42 overall) by the Connecticut Sun, but was released on 28 April 2006 during training camp and returned to Australia without playing a WNBA game.[64][65]
- In the 2010 WNBA draft, Brigitte Ardossi was selected in round 2 (pick 21 overall) by the Atlanta Dream, but was released on 10 May 2010 during training camp and returned to Australia without playing a WNBA game.[66][67]
