List of converts to Sikhism
This is a list of converts to Sikhism.
Sikhism does not favour proselytizing or vigorous conversion campaigns, but allows people to follow the religion according to their own will. Anyone interested in adopting Sikhism is free to do so irrespective of gender, race or ethnicity.
- Alexandra Aitken - actress and daughter of former British cabinet minister Jonathan Aitken
- Vic Briggs - former blues musician who converted and took the name Vikram Singh Khalsa; became the first non-subcontinental to perform kirtan at Harimandir Sahib[1]
- Peggy Ferrar DiCaprio - actress; wife of writer George DiCaprio; stepmother of actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
- Gurmukh - yoga teacher; co-founder and director of the Golden Bridge Yoga Center in Los Angeles[2][3]
- Vikram Kaur Khalsa - former model and actress, starred in several horror movies[4][5]
- Max Arthur Macauliffe (1841–1913) - senior British administrator who was posted in the Punjab; prolific scholar and author; converted to Sikhism in the 1860s[6][7]
- Babaji Singh - credited with translating Guru Granth Sahib, the holy text of the Sikhs, into Spanish[8][9]
- Martin Singh - Nova Scotia pharmacist and businessman and candidate for the leadership of the New Democratic Party of Canada in 2012
- Ocean Singh - MTV Roadies; born a Hindu and embraced Sikh after learning its basic concepts of the faith; stated in his audition that Sikhism appealed to him due to the importance of being a soldier and saint[10][11]
- Dharma Singh Khalsa - medical researcher in the field of Alzheimer's disease[12]
- Mahan Atma Singh Khalsa - formerly Andy Strachan; guitarist and member of the band DYS; co-founded the band Slaughter Shack; after leaving music, converted to Sikhism[13]
