Liu Yong (writer)
Liu Yong (Chinese: 劉墉; pinyin: liú yǒng) (born February, 1949). He was born in Taipei and became a famous writer and painter. Liu Yong's father died when he was 11 in 1958. In 1962, Liu's house was destroyed in a fire, though he and his mother survived. He graduated from Cheng Kung Senior High School, obtained a Baccalaureate degree at National Taiwan Normal University, and obtained a Doctorate from Columbia University. He was once an art teacher at Cheng Kung Senior High School. He was invited by the National Taiwan Museum of History to an art exhibition of modern painters and a national one. From November 30, 1971 to April 5, 1974, he hosted the China Television quiz show "Seconds Count Down" for the first time in his life as a television show host. From 1973 to 1977, he worked as a journalist for China Television. In 1978, he was hired as a Representative of China Television in America. In 1980, he became the school artist of St. John's University (Jamaica, NY).
Besides his achievements in painting, Liu has also published many essays. These essays can be divided into two genres: one, about how to get along with people, and the other inspirational essays. These essays are usually best-sellers among Chinese people in the area.
