Luke Christopher (born May 8, 1993) is an American rapper, singer, producer and songwriter.[1] He is signed by ByStorm Entertainment / RCA and has released numerous mixtapes throughout his career.

Early life

Luke Christopher grew up in the San Fernando Valley[2][3] As a teenager, he started recording tracks with his brother and cousin in GarageBand. After graduating from high school, he was accepted by the University of Southern California, but he did not attend in order to pursue his music career. Dropping out of college is what influenced his story telling style of rapping.[4][5]

Career

Early on in his career, Christopher was tracked by Interscope's co-founder Jimmy Iovine and Ron Fair who signed him his senior year of high school.[6] Before releasing his first mixtape, Christopher had released several songs, including "Roof Tops", a song featuring Asher Roth.[7] On January 1st, 2012, he released his debut mixtape, titled Building Skies.[8][9] The music was compared to Drake's by musical website Breakonacloud.com.[9] On July 6, 2012 he released TMRW, TMRW, a mixtape that was hosted by the Los Angeles Leakers.[10][11]

In 2013 he signed a record agreement with ByStorm Entertainment / RCA by Mark 1 Pitts and Peter Edge.[6][12] In October 2013, Christopher released The Wonder Years Pt. 1, a self-produced album, containing six tracks.[13][14] On September 30, 2014 he landed a new mixtape titled TMRW, TMRW Pt. II.[15] Most of the mixtape's fifteen tracks were produced by Luke himself, except four songs; "I Think I Love Her" was co-produced by Foster The People & Wave Racer, "Just A Moment" was co-produced by Luke & Shlohmo, "Lets Have A Party", a song featuring Asher Roth was co-produced by Luke & Brody Brown.[15][16] On January 24, 2015 Christopher's song "Lot to Learn" entered the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists Charts at 28.[17]

In March 2015 he provided the opening act for Big Sean, in a concert in Princeton University.[18] From April to June 2015, Christopher had his own nationwide tour, appearing in Chicago, New York, Baltimore and San Francisco among others.[19] Christopher also appeared at the 2015 BET Awards where he was featured as rising talent at the Flava Zone.[20]

On September 11, 2015, Christopher released a double EP, YSTRDY and TMRW. While YSTRDY contains remastered songs from old projects, TMRW features new content including the hit single "They Know". After its debut on iTunes, TMRW immediate positioned itself in the Top 100 albums in the Hip-Hop/Rap category. His song Roses from the TMRW was subsequently featured in the Galaxy S7 ad campaign.[21][22]

He released a music video for a new single "Changed Me" on youtube on September 2nd, 2016. The song was put on his soundcloud and released on all platforms. Alan Walker also released a Luke Christopher remix of the song "Faded" where his lyrics are put over the original beat.
