MEDHOST
Founded in 1984, MEDHOST[1] is a Health Information Technology company based in Nashville, Tennessee with a satellite office in Plano, Texas. Their services streamline clinical workflow, provide patient care, maximize revenue capture, and optimize administrative inefficiencies,[2] and are in use in 1,100 hospitals nationwide.[3] In 2009, their patient records technology and software helped community hospitals (fewer than 200 beds) comply with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,[4] wherein physicians were required to adopt modern digital record-keeping solutions or face penalty.
Company History
MEDHOST was founded in 1984 as a vendor of healthcare financial software under the name Healthcare Management Systems (HMS).[5]
On February 1, 2010, HealthTech Holdings, the parent company of Healthcare Management Systems, Inc., acquired MEDHOST which at the time developed emergency department systems. MEDHOST's software was integrated into HMS' hospital information system.[6]
On December 16, 2013, HealthTech Holdings announced it had combined its subsidiaries and software, rebranding itself as MEDHOST and offering its products under the MEDHOST brand.[7]
MEDHOST was named one of Nashville Business Journal’s top 25 fastest-growing private companies in 2014.[8]
MEDHOST Offerings
MEDHOST's health care management system includes integrated clinical and financial solutions, either hosted or on-premise. MEDHOST also provides healthcare engagement through a health and wellness content site, a patient portal, a condition management app, and analytics platform. MEDHOST supports hospitals and healthcare systems with integrated clinical and financial solutions that help streamline billing, manage electronic health data, and increase workflow efficiency. Applications extend to the emergency department, the surgery suite, the inpatient setting, and administrative areas.
In 2015, MEDHOST launched YourCareUniverse,[9] a Health Care Engagement Platform, which allows hospitals to gain a better understanding of their communities, educate patients, and market more effectively.[10]
