John Eyre Sloane
John Eyre Sloane (September 16, 1886 – July 17, 1970) was an airplane manufacturer. He established one of the first airplane manufacturing plants in Long Island City, New York in 1912.[1]
Biography
He was born on September 16, 1886. He married Thomas Edison's daughter Madeleine and they had four children, Thomas Edison Sloane and John Edison Sloane.[2] He died in 1970.[3]

In his early life, he attended private schools of South Orange. his birthplace, and later attended the Dearborn-Morgan School at Orange. He later entered the Carteret Academy of Orange, graduating in 1904 and thereafter Columbia University, from which he graduated with the class of 1908 with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. After graduating from college, he went into the commercial business, and in 1911 he went into the manufacturing business. Because of his interest in aviation, he established one of the first areoplane plants in the country in Long Island City in 1912. John Eyre Sloane, a retired, investment banker and former chairman of the New Jersey Planning Board died yesterday of a stroke in Memorial Hospital, Easton, Md. He was 83 years old and lived in Llewellyn Park, West Orange, N.J., and St. Michael's, Md.
