Makoto Tanaka (田中 誠 Tanaka Makoto, born August 8, 1975) is a former Japanese football player. He played for Japan national team.[1] He finished his career playing for the J1 League team Avispa Fukuoka.[2] He announced his retirement at the end of the 2011 season having played over 500 in his career.
He was called up for Japan's 2006 World Cup team, but had to withdraw after sustaining a thigh injury in the run-up to the tournament.[3]
