Mamoun's Falafel Restaurant was founded by Mamoun Chater from Syria in 1971. The first restaurant was on 119 MacDougal Street in New York City, which is the oldest falafel restaurant in New York.[1] They opened up the second one in New Haven, Connecticut in 1977. In 2000 they established four new locations in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. In the 1970s their falafel was cheap and reasonable at $0.25 for a sandwich. The NY restaurant has been featured in many magazines and 1000 places to visit before you die.
