Marcus Williams (born Virginia Beach, Virginia), best known by his production moniker MarcNfinit, is an American music producer, engineer, and DJ. Currently based in Silver Spring, Maryland, he has produced for artists such as Akir, Wale, Raheem Devaughn, and Yasiin Bey. Recently he produced the song "Rediscover" by Skyzoo and Torae, which was included on their May 2014 album Barrel Brothers.[1] On July 18, 2012 MarcNfinit released his debut solo album MarcNfinit Compositions Vol 1.[2]

Early life

Marc “Nfinit” Williams was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After graduating from Howard University and Omega Recording School in Washington, D.C. he began working as a professional music producer, engineer, and DJ. He has regularly Deejayed at local venues such as Love Nightclub[3] and at private events through 9th Wonder's Truechool DJs.[4]

MarcNfinit has produced a number of songs for other artists. Among the earliest were “Best Friend” released on Akir’s Street Edition Albums Volume 1 and 2, “So Much” on Akir’s March 2006 Legacy album, and "Am I Dreaming", released on Wale’s debut mixtape Paint a Picture in January 2007.[3] Others include "Back to Your Heart" released on Raheem Devaughn’s Art of Noise mixtape in June 2009.[2] He produced the single "Pressure" by Vayne-Pressure in August 2012,[2] and has also produced for Green Lantern’s Myspace Invasion and XM’s DJ Dub.[3]

He has worked with SmCity since 2013. January 1, 2013 saw the release of SmCity's MarcNfinit produced-track "New Years Revolution", featuring Alison Carney and appearing on SmCity's later March album Dream Cemetery.[5] "What You Don't See", a track by SmCity featuring The Kid Daytona and Precious Joubert, was afterwards released on February 18, 2013, and produced by MarcNfinit.[6] A music video for the song was released in March 2013.[7] The SmCity single "American Sahara", released in April 2013, features The Last Poets and was produced by MarcNfinit.[8] Stated Hip Hop Speakeasy about "American Sahara", "Accompanied by a super sweet instrumental, horns like honey and The Last Poets, rapper SmCity criticizes the washed-up urban dwellers and presses people to pay attention as he takes us on a journey through an urban wasteland."[9]

In May 2013, MarcNfinit contributed to the mixtape Re:Definition by Yasiin Bey.[1] He also co-produced the Nipsey Hussle track "Respect Ya Passion" with producer Bink,[1] and produced the Fleetwood DeVille track "9 to 5", featuring Sofia Portico.[10] The EP it was included on, While I Was Asleep, came out in July 2013.[10] Recently he notably produced the song "Rediscover" by Skyzoo and Torae, featuring Blu. It was included on their May 2014 album Barrel Brothers, released on EMPIRE Recordings.[1]

Solo material, remixes

In March 2012, he produced his own song "Champions", which was presented by The Elitist and featured Zakee.[2] On July 18, 2012, he self-released his debut solo album MarcNfinit Compositions Vol 1.[2] He has also remixed a number of artists, including a remix of the song "Sno" by Roc Marciano, featuring Sean Price. Afterwards he released a remix of "Push Thru", featuring Kendrick Lamar and Curren$y,[1] and he has also remixed "The Cure" by J. Cole[1] and produced the Action Bronson remix of "Pee Pee".[1]

Williams currently lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.[3]
