Mark Edmondson (rugby league)
Mark Edmondson was born in 1979 in Lancaster England and is a former England International rugby league player.
Mark signed as a professional for English Super League champions Saint Helens rugby league club at the age of 17 and played with the club until 2005 before leaving to play in Australia for the Sydney City Roosters in the NRL.
Marks time with St Helens was a very special period in the history of the club and some say the achievements St Helens accomplished from the years of 1999 - 2004 may not be re created ever again in history.
Mark was involved in multiple Super League,World Club Championship and Challenge Cup victories earning his place in English rugby league history receiving lots of medals to show for it in the process.
Mark played alongside some of Britain's greatest players like Paul Sculthorpe,Sean Long,Kerion Cunningham,Paul Newlove,Chris Joint,Tommy Martin,Paul Wellens.
During this wonderful St Helens period Mark also represented the England International team and toured South Africa,Tonga, Fiji and Australia in 2001 - 2002.
Mark was also selected for the England team again in 2005 but unfortunately had to pull out of the team due to urgent need to have shoulder corrective surgery.
In 2006 Mark packed his bags and moved to Australia to join the Sydney City Roosters so that he could test himself against the greatest players in the world under NRL super coach Ricky Stuart.
After overcoming a pre season shoulder re construction Mark eventually made his debut for the Sydney Roosters playing against the Brisbane Broncos at Aussie Stadium.
After only a handful of appearances for the NRL club Mark yet again suffered some major injuries to his back/neck and struggled to fight his way back to fitness.
Disappointingly this led to Marks two-year contract agreement being terminated for the remaining 2007 NRL season which saw Mark have a six-month lay off Rugby altogether to heal his body before heading back home to the Super League to try again.
Mark eventually fought his way back to fitness and signed for the Salford City Reds and managed to get through the 2007 pre session camp moving on to make his debut against the Leeds Rhino’s in round one of the Super League.
But it wasn’t long before Mark suffered yet another shoulder dislocation that virtually kept him on the side line for the remainder of the season which was painful to watch as the Salford Reds that year were demoted to National League One finishing bottom of the table.
Mark’s luck and credibility in the game was quickly running out but managed luckily to sign for the Castleford Tigers on the 30th of October 2007 on a one-year deal. However, after failing a stringent club medical Mark was forced to retire from rugby league at the age of 28.
After retirement from professional rugby Mark knuckled down and finished 5 years of sport psychology studies besides setting up his own sports psychology mental training business called Edmondsondynamics.
Mark Now in 2015 resides in the sunny Gold Coast of Australia and is a Peak Performance Coach for some of the world’s greatest athletes.
Mark trains the minds of some of Australia’s greats in the UFC,NRL and AFL and travels the world assisting these athletes in competition.
