Martha Wardrop
Martha Wardrop is a Scottish Green Party politician, and was its joint convenor from 2011 to 2013.[1]
She is a Glasgow city councillor, she was elected in the Hillhead ward in 2007 and was re-elected in 2012.
She originally comes from Upper Largo in Fife.[2]
Background, education and career
Wardrop went to Buckhaven High School between 1981−1987 and attended the University of Strathclyde from 1987–1992. Active in student volunteering during these studies, she was chairperson of Scotland's Student Community Action Development Unit 1990-1 and received a runner-up prize in the Whitbread Volunteer Action Awards 1990. Subsequently, Wardrop has studied at the Open University from 1996–99 and the University of Glasgow from 2000-2003. Since graduating from University, Wardrop has experience gained from employment in the Voluntary Sector.
Councillor at Glasgow City Council
Wardrop was first elected to the city council to represent the Hillhead ward in 2007. She first moved to the area in 1988 as a student and now, lives at St. George's Cross.[3] Currently, she serves on the Finance and Audit Committee, the Licensing & Regulatory Committee, and Glasgow Community Justice Authority. She is also convenor of the Council's Energy and Carbon Working Group.[4]
Awards and honours
In 2015, she jointly won 'politician of the year' at RSPB's Nature of Scotland Awards.[5]

She takes particular interest in the planning, housing, social care, heritage and culture.
