Matthew Ian Gilbert (born 9 October 1985) is an English rugby union footballer currently playing at Flanker and number eight for Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership. [1] He is the only deaf professional sportsman in England.[2] In 2012 Mat was fitted with a Phonak hearing device. Since then he has worked as a celebrity ambassador for Phonak, helping to raise awareness of hearing loss.[3]
