Matilda Centre

The Matilda Centre was a grassroots developed social and community centre in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It was housed in the derelict former Sydney Works (the centre took the name of the street on which the building can still be found) building until June 2006 when, following the outcome of a court case ruling that they should be evicted, the collectives running the centre left.[1]

The anarchist collectives which ran the centre worked to promote various creative activities in the centre, including live music and art, political activities, open source software and also worked to maintain the building. [2]
