Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University
Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University Patna or simply MMHAPU, is a state university in Patna, Bihar, India. It was established under the provisions of the Bihar State Universities Act 1976, with effect from 10 April 1998 (vide MHRD, Govt. of Bihar notification no. 1998 dated 22 November 2006).[1] The jurisdiction of the University is the whole of Bihar, and the University is recognized under 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956. The university is a member of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi with effect from December 2009. The university is named after the veteran freedom fighter Mulana Mazharul Haque.
Although three Vice Chancellors were appointed by Government of Bihar namely Dr. M. Ahmad Arzoo, HOD of Arabic, Aligarh Muslim University (1998), Dr. Sharf Alam, HOD of Persian, Patna University (2004) and Sri V.S. Dubey Ex- Chief Secretary of Bihar and Jharkhand, the University did not begin admitting students until 2007. Prof. Qamar Ahsan was appointed the Vice Chancellor on 25 January 2008. The University started its first academic session from July 2008.
The University has more than 100 KRCs (Knowledge Resource Centers) which is the brain child of Prof. Qamar Ahsan. Education in Vocational courses are imparted through these KRCs. The University is reaching out to far-flung areas. At present there are 14 affiliated colleges including one B.Ed. College. The University is also imparting PG Semester System courses in English, Urdu, Persian, Journalism and Mass communication and Education.
Government of Bihar has chosen Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University to impart education to remote areas of Bihar.
The University has signed MOU with N.I.C. Bihar, Patna for total e-administration. Of the department of the University. Mrs. Nanda Singh, Mr. Bijay Kumar, Mr. Jawed Manzar and Mr. Ravi Kumar, Mr. Suraj Das of NIC, Patna worked on the e-administration project using Chanakaya software.
The University has successfully conducted two convocations in the year 2012 and 2015 respectively. Many of the students of this University are well placed in different fields.
