Medline Industries, Inc., based in Mundelein, Illinois, is a manufacturer and distributor of health care supplies.[1] Customers include hospitals, surgery centers, physicians' offices, extended care facilities, and dialysis centers, though they do sell to consumers also. It is owned by the founding Mills family.[2]
The company's manufacturing and distribution capabilities encompass more than 350,000 products ranging from surgical instruments to hand sanitizers.
Numerous charges have been filed with the National Labor Relations Board against Medline Industries for alleged unfair labor practices at the company's various manufacturing and distribution plants.[3] In 1977, for instance, the Labor Board found management at an Illinois Medline facility engaged in unfair labor practices, thereby directly violating the National Labor Relations Act.[4] More recently, a Medline warehouse operator was terminated at Medline's Shepherdsville, KY distribution facility in late September, 2015 for allegedly engaging in protected labor organizing activities.[5][6] Medline settled with this employee for $15,000 on condition that the employee not return to work; this agreement was approved by the Region 9 director, Garey Lindsay, on January 26, 2016.[6]
