Meurig Bowen

Meurig Bowen (born 5 December 1965) is artistic director of the Cheltenham Music Festival.

Bowen was educated at William Ellis School, London, and King's College, Cambridge, where he was a choral scholar (1985–88). After a period working in Australia as artistic administrator of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, he returned to the UK as director of the Lichfield Festival,[1] and subsequently head of programming at the Aldeburgh Festival, before taking up his present post at Cheltenham, where he succeeded Martyn Brabbins, in 2007.[2]

Bowen is also a music journalist and commentator[3] who regularly writes for the national press,[4] and he also writes distinctive CD liner notes, notably on the Hyperion label.[5]
