Michał Życzkowski
Michał Życzkowski (12 April 1930 in Kraków – 24 May 2006 in Kraków) was a Polish technician, professor and doctor honoris causa of the Cracow University of Technology, full member of Polish Academy of Sciences and Polish Academy of Learning, Foreign Corresponding Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Member of Editorial Boards of: International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, Structural Optimization, Journal of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik.
He was the youngest professor in the history of Poland, at his time. He became professor at an age of 31. Advisor of 29 Ph.D. students, 11 of them were promoted to become professors.
Had four children, among them Karol Życzkowski.
