Michael Anthony Subercaseaux (born May 6, 1988),[3] better known by his stage name Michael Caseau, is an American rapper, songwriter, producer, music executive and actor.[4][5][6]

Raised in Jamaica Estates, a neighborhood of Queens in New York City, he is the founding member of Young 'N Grateful, a record label with online retail distribution under Empire Distribution.[7][8]

Early life

He was born in Stony Brook, New York and grew up in Queens, New York. Michael was raised by his mother, uncle John and grandparents. He grew up in an Italian-American household, associated to the Lucchese crime family, Anthony Casso and Paul Castellano. In 1997, Caseau's uncle was accused of selling crack cocaine concealed inside packaged boxes of steak by way of a meat distribution business. Michael was abandoned by his biological mother in 2007. He was homeless for several years and recalls sleeping in a 7-Eleven bathroom on Northern Boulevard and Utopia Parkway (Queens) in Auburndale, Queens[9]

In January 2015, Michael was granted a Distribution deal with Empire Records through Misha Johnese for MCMC Recordings.[7] The Empire deal includes the label(s) Young 'N Grateful, MCMC Recordings and Less HiFi No Bueno, LLC (Operated for producer Chase HiFi).[2] Caseau operates Legacy Publishing Group, Inc. The artist has signed producer, Brandon "Chase HiFi" Spicer in July 2015 to his Young 'N Grateful imprint.[7]

In August 2016, Ghazi Shami, The President and CEO of Empire Distribution provided Caseau the opportunity to distribute music as Young 'N Grateful under Empire.[5][10]

In January 2016, Bobby V (Previously Bobby Valentino) made a partnership with Caseau to aid in media direction, investments, and management.

Phresher

In April 2016, Caseau started working with Phresher, an up and comer from Brooklyn, New York who earlier in 2015 released music with Desiigner before signed to Kanye West's label GOOD Music. Creating brand structure and executive work, the single "Wait A Minute" was executive produced by Caseau and has since been featured on by RiFF RaFF, and remixed by 50 Cent,[11] Waka Flocka Flame [12] and various DJ's including DJ Whoo Kid[13][14][7]

Chris Webby

On January 13, 2016, The Queens Emcee executive produced and secured sample clearance for Chris Webby's song entitled "Ignition" featuring Dave East.[15][16][2]

Manolo Rose

In August 2015, Caseau coordinated a major music recording and distribution agreement meeting with Manolo Rose and Aaron Reid, son of Epic Records' CEO & President, LA Reid. Rose ultimately signed an agreement with Warehouse Music Group, under Memphis Bleek and Jay Z's Roc Nation company.[7][17][18]
