Michael Fitchett (basketball)

Michael Robert Elmslie Fitchett (born 20 September 1982) is a New Zealand professional basketball player. The 1.83m point guard was a member of the New Zealand national basketball team. He participated in the FIBA Oceania Championship 2009 for the Tall Blacks, averaging 3.5 points per game for the team.[1]

Fitchett attended Nelson College from 1996 to 2000, where he excelled as a sportsman. He was the school's junior athletics champion in 1996 and 1997, played for the 'A' basketball team from 1996 to 2000 and was a member of the 1st XI cricket team from 1997 to 2000.[2]

Fitchett came out of retirement in 2012 to replace the injured Mark Dickel at the OceanaGold Nuggets. He was also a training player with the New Zealand Breakers during the 2011–12 season.[3]
