Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a special event hosted at the Magic Kingdom on select nights throughout November and December in the lead-up to Christmas. The event runs from 7pm till midnight and requires a separate ticket from regular general admission.[1]

Events

Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade

Guests have the opportunity to watch the parade twice throughout the night. The parade makes its way down Main Street, USA with the glistening lights on Cinderella's Castle in the background. Featuring favourite Disney characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse along with numerous other characters such as; Goofy, Chip 'n' Dale, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Marching Toy Soldiers, Dancing Reindeer, Gingerbread men and Ole Saint Nick.[2]

Holiday Wishes

Main article: Wishes (fireworks)

A holiday edition of the nightly fireworks show, Holiday Wishes involves a medley of the original Wishes soundtrack with some Christmas songs mixed in. The show starts with Tinker Bell flying overhead the castle with narration by Jiminy Cricket. Along with the fireworks there is lighting effects projected onto Cinderella's Castle such as the appearance of Santa Claus and the castle turning green to appear as a Christmas tree.[3]

Celebrate the Season Stage Show

Numerous times throughout the night guests have the opportunity to watch Celebrate the Season stage show on the stage in front of Cinderella's Castle. Starring classic Disney characters such as Mickey and Minnie, Pluto, Donald Duck, Goofy and Chip 'n' Dale dressed up in their Christmas outfits. The show features the characters singing and dancing to classic Christmas carols along with a comedic performance of The Nutcracker. To conclude the performance a single pyrotechnic effect is shot out from behind the castle.[4]

A Frozen Holiday Wish

Sometime in November, Cinderella's Castle is covered in 200,000 LED lights to resemble being frosted in ice and snow — an effect called Castle Dream Lights on Cinderella Castle. At dusk, there is a short show featuring the characters from Frozen in which Elsa uses her ice powers to frost over the castle. This show can be viewed by all guests every night in the holiday season and is repeated again during the time of the exclusive evening party.[5][6]

This show replaced, beginning in 2014, a show featuring the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella.[7]

A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show

A twenty-minute show performed a few times throughout the night at the Tomorrowland stage, featuring Buzz Lightyear and Mike Wazowski teaching Stitch the meaning of Christmas before he laser blasts Santa out of the sky.[8]

Character Dance Parties

There are generally two character dance parties throughout the night. Dance parties provide guests with the opportunity to dance with Disney characters such as Woody, Jessie and Bullseye. In the past the dance parties have been held in the Diamond Horseshoe and Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe.[9]

Jingle Cruise

While not exclusive to the party, Jingle Cruise is limited to the Christmas season after debuting in 2013. The original Jungle Cruise ride is upgraded to include some Christmas details throughout the queue, a rename of the boats and some new jokes from the skippers.[10]

Meet and Greet Disney Characters

Numerous characters will be throughout the Magic Kingdom to meet guests and take pictures. The characters are dressed in holiday themed clothes, which are exclusive to the Christmas season. Along with the regular characters who appear in the park some rare characters come out for special events such as the seven dwarfs.[11]

Rides and Attractions

Popular attractions will be open throughout the party but Fastpass is not available for use. In the past some of the attractions that have been open are The Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. The rides that are open are not guaranteed to be the same every year.[12]

Cookies & Hot Cocoa

Complimentary to all guests, there are numerous snack stations set up around the park to collect cookies and hot chocolate.[13]
