The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Malay: Kementerian Sains, Teknologi, dan Inovasi), abbreviated MOSTI, is a ministry of the Government of Malaysia that is responsible for science, technology, innovation, space science, chemistry, nuclear, meteorological, standards, atomic energy, remote sensing, design, technology park, biotechnology, astronautics, cyber security, nanotechnology, venture capital, venture debt, AIDS, research. The current minister is Wilfred Madius Tangau.
It was created in 1973 by the federal government as the Ministry of Technology, Research and Local Government and was reformed in 1976 as the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (MOSTE). Following the cabinet reshuffle of 2004, MOSTE evolved yet again to its current form.
The objective behind the creation of the ministry is to improve competitiveness in the fields of science and technology through the generation of knowledge and sustainable development.[1]

Grants
MOSTI provides grants for research. Funds available are placed under specialised schemes, such as ScienceFund, TechnoFund (Pre-commercialisation and IP acquisition fund), InnoFund (Enterprise innovation and community innovation fund), eHCD (Human capital development fund), eIRPA and the Brain Gain fund.
