Miriama Kamo

Miriama Jennet Kamo (born 19 October 1973, in Ngāi Tahu/Ngāti Mutunga) is a New Zealand television presenter, host and producer. She previously hosted the current affairs programme, 20/20 on TVNZ.[1]

Early life

Kamo was born in Christchurch in 1973. She attended New Brighton Catholic Primary School and Aranui High School. She graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1995.[2]

Career

Early career

Kamo began her journalism career as a radio announcer and producer at National Radio. She then moved into television in the late 1990s, working for three years as an onscreen journalist and director for the issues and arts programme, Backchat.

TVNZ

Kamo joined Television New Zealand (TVNZ) becoming a reporter for TVNZ's affairs programme, Sunday. She also worked as a backup presenter for ONE News, and Breakfast.

Current career

Kamo currently hosts TVNZ's current affairs show 20/20, and is a weekend co-anchor for TVNZ 7's TVNZ News @ 8. In 2010, Kamo and fellow presenter Rawdon Christie anchored the live coverage of the aftermath of the 2010 Canterbury earthquake.

Awards

In 2005, Miriama won Best Current Affairs Reporter at the Qantas Television Awards.[3]

Personal life

In mid to late 2011, Miriama gave birth to a daughter, with her partner Michael.
