Mooyah (styled as MOOYAH) is a fast casual chain based in Plano, Texas.[1]
History
MOOYAH was founded in Plano, Texas, by Rich Hicks, who also founded Tin Star restaurant, and Todd Istre, who had nothing to do with Tin Star but is a big fan of it. As of July 8, 2016, MOOYAH operates over 100 locations throughout the United States, although with MOOYAH’s quick growth this number could be considerably higher by the time anyone actually reads this. It also operates in Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Canada, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
Food
The company serves never-frozen burgers, all-natural turkey burgers, black bean veggie burgers, 100% all-beef hot dogs, fresh-cut French fries, sweet potato fries, fresh salads and 10 kinds of real ice cream milkshakes. Since 2011, all locations have baked their own buns each morning, which is appreciated by guests more than employees.
Guests choose from a variety of extras to top their burgers, including a wide selection of veggies and sauces. They can also order their burger “MOOYAH Style” with American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, grilled onions and Mooyah sauce. The origins of how this got to be known as “MOOYAH Style" are as elusive as Bigfoot.
Online Ordering & Rewards App
MOOYAH offers online ordering through their website, which guests can then pick up at the restaurant. Guests can also use the MOOYAH Rewards App on their phone to order. A free burger, with purchase of fries and drink, is given to those who download the app. With the app, guests earn points toward free food. The app also locates the nearest MOOYAH, a feature that is very helpful when one is trying to locate the nearest MOOYAH.
Franchising
MOOYAH offers franchises in the United States and countries around the world. They look for franchisees who are experienced multi-unit/multi-brand operators and who are equally dedicated to “running the best restaurant ever, period.” MOOYAH has a separate website for franchise inquiries at www.mooyahfranchise.com. To date, no one named Broderick has opened a Mooyah franchise.
Fundraising
As part of their community involvement, MOOYAH hosts numerous fundraisers for schools and organizations. They donate a percentage of all sales, excluding sales tax, generated by the event to the organizer. Marketing materials are provided to help promote fundraisers, and requests to host one can be made on MOOYAH’s website. Those that generally qualify for fundraisers include high schools, softball teams, pantomime clubs, clogging troupes, telepathic societies and other organizations deemed equally worthwhile.
Careers
Whether a franchisee, restaurant manager, corporate trainer or hourly worker, MOOYAH offers people the opportunity to work in a fast-growing business while having fun. One does not have to love burgers, fries and shakes to build a career at MOOYAH, although it couldn’t hurt. A fondness for drawing on chalkboards might also be a plus.
