Muvattupuzha Football Club (Malayalam : മൂവാറ്റുപുഴ ഫുട്ബോൾ ക്ളബ് ) is a professional football club based in Muvattupuzha, Kerala, India.The club was established in 2006 by Eldho Babu Vattakkavil. It is the only club affiliated to Kerala Football Association in Moovattupuzha taluk.
History
Muvattupuzha Football Club is started with the vision of finding out and grooming gifted youngsters and developing them into excellent national and international players. The Club has its humble beginning in 2006 by Eldho Babu Vattakkavil Under the patronage of Dean Kuriakose,Kerala State Youth Congress President, and has since been active in and around Muvattupuzha by conducting various camps and programmes promoting the game.
The Club grew gradually and is now a member of the prestigious Kerala Football Association (KFA).
Current Developements
Within a few years, the Club will form a strong and competent professional team capable of winning national titles.
The Club is on a long term mission, to build slowly but steadily a strong foundation for the academic development of football so that dedicated players can perfect their talents and become world-renowned footballers. As a part of fulfilling the vision, They got a Kerala Football Association Affiliated Grassroots Coaching Centre.
Hosting of Kerala Premier League
Muvattupuzha Football Club hosted the 2015-16 Kerala Premier League, Officially known as 3rd Dentcare Dental Lab Kerala Premier League due to sponsorship reasons, which was the third season of the Kerala Premier League, professional football league played in Kerala since 2013-14.
Ismayael Rawther was the Chairman of the committee formed for organising the event.
The season featured 8 teams in men's edition and 4 teams in women's edition. The season kicked off on 16 April 2016. Marthoma College Women’s Football Club emerged as the winners of the women’s edition and remained unbeaten in the league. SBT beat Central Excise for 1-0 in the finals to clinch the Kerala Premier League title for the consecutive time.
Kerala Super League
On 5 December 2015, In a function involving former England international Goalkeeper Peter Shilton, it is announced that the bidding for the teams are on and out of 8 franchises,4 were finalised. Muvattupuzha FC were one among them to grab the Ernakulam Franchise of the State’s new ISL-style Kerala Super League.[1]
