MyOpusRadio.com is India's first Internet radio station for international music,[1] launched in October 2008.[2] It is a brand of TrumpIt Entertainment, an events, marketing and creative firm. Based in Bangalore, India, the radio station caters to both local and international bands.

History

The radio station was started off in 2008 by Carlton and Gina Braganza. MyOpusRadio.com has been named as a tribute to Opus, the restaurant and bar that has been a space for music and musical activities in Bangalore.[3] In the words of founder Gina Braganza, “Opus has always being a platform for independent new talent in Bangalore and it was a natural extension to explore this area. The idea was to give genre specific music to music lovers.”[4]

MyOpusRadio.com started off with one channel in October 2008, with an hour based format like FM radio. By February 2009, it had eight more channels added to its radio station.[5] Currently, MyOpusRadio streams a total of 13 channels on the main website, and also has additional customized widgets and channels on a few other websites.

Programming

With a majority of Indian FM Channels playing mainly Bollywood music, MyOpusRadio.com seeks to cater to international music listeners by playing Retro, Country, Rock, Jazz, Pop, Electronic, Blues, Funk, Soul and Hip Hop.[6] It also promotes independent music, with 3 channels under The Opus Platform specifically for Indian non-film artists.

MyOpusRadio.com carries the following programs:

- Something Special: A 3-hour interview with artists, played on Wednesdays from 3pm to 6pm IST on The Opus Platform channel.

- The Opus Platform Show: A 3-hour show with RJ Sharmon, featuring album reviews, interviews, gig and news updates from the Indian independent music scene on The Opus Platform, Thursdays 3pm to 6pm IST.

- Top Drawer with Blackjack: A show for classic rock and blues with DJ Blackjack, on the Blackjack 24x7 channel on Wednesdays, 6pm to 9pm IST.

- The Easy Top 40 Show: A countdown of the forty most popular songs in the International Adult Contemporary chart, with RJ Sharmon on Saturdays, 6pm IST on the Easy channel.

- Stanley Pinto’s Jazz: Two hours of the best jazz tunes with aficionado Stanley Pinto, on Sundays, from 3pm to 5pm IST on the Sax and Violins channel.

- Cross Country: Country music, from the classics to the chart toppers, with RJ Otis on Fridays, 9pm to Midnight, IST on the Cross Country channel.[7]

Features

MyOpusRadio.com has the unique feature of providing customized music players and radio channels for music and event related websites. Confluence Radio,[8] made for the Ladakh Confluence 2009 and 2010, Pubrock Radio, for the Pubrock Fest 2009, Metro Monkey Radio,[9] Headbangers India Radio [10] are some of the players that MyOpusRadio.com has provided.

Live webcast is another feature provided by MyOpusRadio.com. Events like KroaKING, Nasty Peach live, the Zero Reunion Tour etc. have been streamed live from their venues.[11]

MyOpusRadio.com is also available for streaming on mobile phones as well.
