Albums

Cinematic flavor and dramatic rock style, Nemesis third album part 1 “The Piano”. After 2 years of performing in the classical rock style, they released this album in August 2011. This album explores the spirit of the classical rock with pop influences in the genre. And is somewhat a unique take on it.

The songs emphasize the lyrics and melodies with an occasional string section. This adds the classical elements fused into the rock style. The songs range from intense and heavy, to light and bright. Their music is definitely hard to categorize in any specific genre. It’s just easiest to say that the music made my Nemesis is a genre they want to create for themselves.

Nemesis Vol.3 - Part 1: The Piano

  • Released: 2011.08.23
  • Label: Sony Music Entertainment korea
  • Tracks: 1. Ulineun Salang Ieoss-Eulkka (우리는 사랑이었을까)

Because the album is called “The Piano” the focused instrument on the album is centered around the keys. The song tries to evoke the image of a single scene like a movie. The scene is one of memories long gone and trying to remember them again.

2. Last Scene (라스트씬)

3. Ending Credit (엔딩 크레딧)

If you analyze a movie, the third act is where all the really big stuff happens. It’s usually the climax of the film leading up to the resolution. Once the movie is over, there of course is the ending credits to go through. This song is comparable to the slow realization that the movie/love is over and it’s time to move on.

The song has an intense piano and string foundation to stimulate the senses.

4. Paragliding (패러글라이딩)

This song is about a young person courageously running towards his dreams. It’s a fast paced song with the beat and melody carried by the guitars and piano. A bright cool feeling song.

5. Kkum-Eul Kkuji Anh-Ass Eumyeon (꿈을 꾸지 않았으면)

Sometimes dreams can be more realistic and dramatic than any scene in a movie. This song was written after one of the band members had such a dream. It starts off with a hazy dream like intro with the vocals before switching to a faster pace with the drums in a blast of passion. The resolution of the song reverses again signifying the end of the dream and magically reawakening from it.

6. Agpeul (Feat. EVE Gimseheon) (악플) Feat. EVE 김세헌

With the development of the Internet, a new type of culture also arose from it. One where it is difficult for people to be held accountable for the things they say online. Rumors are being spread and hurting reputations of many. Some of these people affected by such Internet abuses are unable to deal with the resulting stress and end up committing suicide. It’s a problem that needs to be fixed. This song talks about this issue in our society today. Especially on this song, our guitarist Ha Sae Bin who had previously worked with Eve, invited their vocalist Kim Sae Hun as a guest singer on this song.

7. Oppa ga Jalmoshaess-Eo (오빠가 잘못했어)

On Nemesis’ first album there was a song called (솜사탕) “Cotton Candy” and on their second album (사랑해주리) “I Will Love You”. These were both the last tracks off of this album and they shared a similarity with each other in that they were different from the style of the other songs off of their respective albums. The same is true for this last song (오빠가 잘못했어) “I Was Wrong” on the third album.

The song is about a man who’s struggling to come to grips with his failed relationship, and some of the lyrics point to his emotions such as when he says (요것 봐라 이제는 전화도 안 받네)“Would you look at that, she’s not even answering her phone anymore.” And (내 통장 잔고 봐 널 위해 다 털었어) “Look at my bank account. I spent everything I had for you.”

The lyrics are incredibly honest to reflect how people feel in real life.

8. Ending Credit (Instrumental)
