New Urban High School (NUHS) is a public school located in Milwaukie, Oregon, United States.
History
NUHS was founded in 2003, financed by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The school enrolls students primarily from the North Clackamas School District, but accepts enrollment from other local school districts as well if they have applied for and received an inter-district transfer.
To obtain a diploma, students are required to complete a minimum 60-hour internship with a local business that reflects their career aspirations and complete accompanying course work.
Academics
In 2008, 40% of the school's seniors received their high school diploma. Of 68 students, 27 graduated, 15 dropped out, and 26 are still in high school.[2][3]
