Newman School
The "Newman School", founded in 1991, is located in Cajicá, Colombia. Its first graduating class was in 2003. It is a Catholic school, but a kid can enter having any other religion without having any problem.
The Bilingual and private School was founded in 1991 by former Colegio Anglo Colombiano headmaster Augusto Franco Arbeláez. The school was named after Cardinal John Henry Newman, whose saying "from heart to heart we all speak heart to heart" is now part of the school's anthem. The Newman School belongs to the "UCB" ("Unión de Colegios Bilingües"). It has all grades from Pre-Kinder to Eleventh Grade. The classes that are taught in Elementary are: Science, Math, Religion (class that you only take if you are Catholic), Colombian History, Social Studies, English And Literature, Spanish And Literature, Science, Arts, Drama, Computers, P.E., an annual project, and once a week they give students 105 minutes for an elective class.
Houses
It has 4 houses: Air, Water, Earth and Fire. There's an annual 4-day week mainly dedicated to win points for each house called the "Semana Cultural" in English Cultural Week. At the end of each lective year a house is the wins and receives a cup. Some other important dates in the school are "English Day" (That's actually Newman's birthday) and Spanish day. The number of students is approximately 650. The School has 4 main buildings: The CRE, (Centro de Recursos Educativos in Spanish) the Gym, Newman preschool building and middle-high school building called Betancourt. The CRE consists mainly of a 2-floors library, an auditorium, the Physics lab and the computers room. In the preschool building other that classrooms, there is 4 teacher's lounge. The Betancourt, also other than classrooms, there is a Chemistry lab, administrative and academic offices. There are also smaller buildings such as the cafeteria, music room and sports rooms.
