Nicholas Thieberger

Nicholas Thieberger is an Australian linguist working at the University of Melbourne.

He received his PhD from The University of Melbourne in 2004 for work on the grammar of South Efate. He is best known for his research on Indigenous Australian languages, on the South Efate language of Vanuatu, and for his work in language documentation. He established Wangka Maya the Pilbara Aboriginal Language Centre in the late 1980s,[1] ASEDA, the Aboriginal Studies Electronic Data Archive, in the early 1990s,[2] and co-founded the Resource Network for Linguistic Diversity. He is currently an ARC Future Fellow in the School of Languages and Linguistics at The University of Melbourne, and the manager of the PARADISEC archive.[3]
