Noorulhaq Olumi was elected to represent Kandahar Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005.[1] He is a member of the Pashtun ethnic group from the Barakzai tribe. A report on Kandahar prepared at the Navy Postgraduate School states that he sits on the Armed Services Committee as its chair, that he was a Governor-General prior to the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, that he received military training in the United States, and that he was in exile in the Netherlands during the Taliban regime.

Previously commander of Kandahar Army Corps (2nd Corps?) during PDPA regime (circa 1978-92).[2]
