Northwestern High School is a public high school in Maple, Douglas County Wisconsin. It is part of Maple School District.[1] The district serves the villages of Poplar and Lake Nebagamon; the unincorporated communities of Maple, Brule, and Iron River; and the counties of Douglas and Bayfield.
In the late 1970's this school removed asbestos lining from their heating system from the old quonset hut section on the eastern side of the building. This removal process ran into the school year and likely many students were exposed to asbestos fibers during their school years there. That portion of the school is no longer present and extensive remodelling has occurred over the last several decades adding needed space for the ever growing community.
