Notnops is a genus of spiders in the family Caponiidae, containing only one species Notnops calderoni.[1] The species has four eyes and is from Chile. Males are about 2 mm, females almost 3 mm.
Name
The genus name is a pun on the fact that there are no caponiid spiders of the subfamily Nopinae (named after the genus Nops) in Chile. Named in the same spirit are the Taintnops ("it ain't Nops") and the Tisentnops ("it isn't Nops") genera of spiders. The species name is in honor of Chilean arachnologist Raúl Calderón.
