Nuance PDF Reader, developed by Nuance Communications, Inc., is free software designed to view, manipulate and manage files in Portable Document Format (PDF). It includes built-in connectivity to a hosted Web service that enables users to convert PDF files[1] to Word, Excel, RTF or WordPerfect using OCR technology. It also includes PDF form filler capabilities[2] (saving filled forms and partial support for XFA forms) and gives users the option to prevent JavaScript installation for security purposes.[3] As of 2016 PDF Reader was no longer available from Nuance; those accessing the PDF Reader Web site were offered a 30-day free trial of Nuance Power PDF Advanced instead.
