Oakwood Park Primary School is located in Noble Park North, Victoria, Australia. It has won National Literacy Awards in 2006 and 2007[1] It pioneered both the "Ready-Set-Prep" kinder to school transition program and the "It's Cool to be at School" program .
In August 2008, the School Council of Oakwood Park and Yarraman Park Primary agreed to merge to form a new school to be located at the current Yarraman site. Some Oakwood Park Councillors reported that the Government/Education Department had said that the school would receive no extra funds if it stayed a stand-alone school and the Acting Principal had stopped taking future enrolment which also went to the decision of council. It was later revealed in a case study about leadership by Acting Principal, Mary Verwey, that the decision to close the school was actually made by "the regional regeneration team".[2]
