Oceanside High School is an American public secondary school located in Oceanside, New York. It is part of the Oceanside School District. In a 2012 Newsweek ranking of the top 1,000 public high schools in the United States, Oceanside High School was ranked #424.[1] The School was Initially built in 1937 and expanded in 1962. The School's mascot is the Sailor and competes countywide in a variety of sports. The Current Principal is Geraldine DeCarlo, who took over from Marc Secaur in 2013. Oceanside High School has played an important role in the community, particularly after Hurricane Sandy, when its teachers helped those in need. The School also has a well-run Film program, and hosts a film festival each year, showing entries from students from all grade levels. The Broadcast Program, has collaborated with MSG Varsity, as most local schools have, and has been featured on some of their programming. It's football team, the Oceanside Sailors, went to the Long Island county championship the 2015 season.
