History

Optenet is a private company that was a spin-off from the University of Navarra's Engineering Faculty and San Sebastian's Research Centre in San Sebastian, Spain. It provides customers with a Multi-tenant Secure Web Gateway and an e-mail infrastructure solution primarily for carriers, managed security service providers (MSSPs) and large enterprises that want to create service offerings for their own clients.[2] Its product Optenet WebSecureTM was recently awarded with five stars in SC Magazine’s Web Content Management Group Test,[3] defining it as a 'Solid' Web Security solution.

Cool Vendor

Optenet has been named a "Cool Vendor" by Gartner for its innovative Multi-tenant technology in 2011, in Gartner's report, "Cool Vendors in Communications Service Provider Infrastructure 2011," authored by Akshay Sharma and Deborah Kish.[4]
