Parno Mittra[1][2] is a Bengali film actress. She made her debut with Anjan Dutta's ‘Ranjana Ami Aar Ashbona[3]’ and is known for playing strong characters on screen.[4]
Early life
Parno Mittra was born in Kolkata. Since her father worked in Arunachal Pradesh, she spent a major part of her childhood there. She studied at Dow Hill School in Kurseong[5] and Pratt Memorial School [6] in Kolkata. She was an athlete in her school.
Career
Parno Mittra's debut TV serial was 'Khela' which was a Ravi Ojha Production. She played the lead character 'Indira'. She acted in another popular Ravi Ojha Production, 'Mohona[7]' as the lead character. She got the Best Actress[8] award for Mohona. She acted opposite Abir Chatterjee in 'Shomoy' and played a character with negative shades in 'Bou Kotha Kau'.[9]
She made her film debut with Anjan Dutt's 'Ranjana Ami Aar Ashbo Na'. The film received 3 National Awards[10][11] for the Best Bengali Film, Special Jury Award and Best Music.
She starred opposite Parambrata Chattopadhyay as Ashima in director Kaushik Ganguly's 'Apur Panchali[12]', which was screened at the 44th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in November 2013.[13]
Some of her other notable films are 'Bedroom[14]', 'Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends', 'Maach Mishti More[15]' and 'Ekla Akash'. She played a double role in 'Glamour'.[16]
In the year 2015, she had 3 releases: 'Bheetu[17]', 'Glamour' and Srijit Mukherjee's 'Rajkahini'. Rajkahini[18] is being made in Hindi as Begum Jaan[19] which is being produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt.[20] She acted in Pratim D Gupta's 'X Past Is Present' which featured Rajat Kapoor.[21]
Parno Mittra has signed up for Bangladeshi director Mostafa Sarwar Farooki's[22] bilingual international film featuring Irrfan Khan and Rokeya Prachy of Tareque Masud's 'The Clay Bird'.
