Mr Edward(Ted) Ramu Diro GCL, CBE, OStJ, FAIM,)(TED DIRO pngspeaks.com/ted-diro, Last year 2015, we celebrated 40 years of nationhood. Papua new Guineans did so as one united people, looking back with common hardships and similar losses that engrave the peoples desires for a better life that is free from poverty and hardships.
The PAP has walked this journey with all Papua New Guineans, wherein our political leaders of the pioneer generation launched us onto a political journey with many happy, sad instances and into an unknown destiny. People’s Action Party (PAP) was established at a time when there was need to rejuvenate politics in Papua New Guinea and to achieve a more balanced and fair party leadership representation by regions.
Since its formation PAP very quickly became a major political force in the late 80’s and early 90’s. The Party’s deeply rooted political doctrines embrace the most fundamental core values of democracy.
PAP stands for freedom and liberty of choice. It upholds the primacy of public interest over self-interest and commits itself whole-heartedly to the principles of honest, just and fair practices.
The Party affirms its absolute loyalty to the Constitution of PNG at all times and declares its unswerving commitment to provide good Governance.
The Party’s principal doctrine in Governance is guided by the National Constitution and the Directive Principles as articulated in the Preamble of our Constitution.
It enshrines and nurtures the sovereign and independent exercise of powers and authority ensuring national participation and control to be paramount at all times..
The Party under the leadership of Mr Edward(Ted) Ramu Diro GCL, CBE, OStJ, FAIM, contributed meaningfully to nation building regional collaborations and understandings. To mention a few: As former the Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Edward(Ted).R Diro signed a friendship treaty with Indonesia in the Hall of Fame where the only other Declaration (to fight the Dutch for Independence) was signed; they respect that Agreement, He also signed a Treaty with Solomon Islands - Danika affair at the Maigado Square, where Tuna congregates & feeds so that is why Papua New Guinea have the 200 mile fishing zone. As former Commander of the PNG Defense Force Mr Edward(Ted).R Diro signed a Treaty with Australia – Joint Declaration of Principles whereby in the event of war the two parties will get together & decide on the course of action.
The PAP has a potential of bringing in good, strong visionary Members of Parliament in the coming 2017 National Election. It is with this strong belief that Mr Edward(Ted).R Diro relinquish his Non-Parliamentary Leadership job to Mr. Tony Waterupu Aimo a former National Member of Parliament representing the people of Ambunti Dreikikir District in the East Sepik Province. He was also the former Minister for Correctional Service of PNG in the 9th Parliament. Mr. Aimo is being anointed by me to lead other PAP who will be endorsed candidates to participate in the coming 10th National Parliament Election. Quote Ted Diro]
The PAP Team under the Tony Aimo leadership and Mr Edward(Ted).R Diro will continue to walk with you. PAP have a clear direction for our country, while responding to your concerns and aspirations. We will involve you in planning and how issues which concern us all, and will distill your views and feedback into policies and programmes. Through Our Papua New Guinea way of Conversing and other Melanesian ways, we will connect directly with many groups and individuals, and feel the pulse of the nation.
We will not avoid tough problems. In this political disrepute and economic hardships and Crisis, we will tightened our belts and weather the storm. We will discuss and plan for population issues honestly and openly with you. Sometimes there will be no ideal solution that will satisfy everyone. But when deciding what to do, we will always do what we believe would best take care of Papua New Guineans’ and advance your interests. quote- Mr Edward(Ted).R Diro March 27, 2016
