Petrov or Petroff (masculine) or Petrova (feminine; pronounced [pʲɪˈtrof], [pʲɪˈtrovə]) is one of the most common surnames in Russia and Bulgaria. The surname is derived from the first name Pyotr (Пётр, Russian) or Petar (Петър, Bulgarian) (both equivalent to English Peter). Petrov means "Peter's" or the English surname "Peters".
