Phebe Novakovic (Serbian Cyrillic: Фиби Новаковић) is an American businesswoman and former intelligence officer. She serves as the Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of General Dynamics. As of 2014, she is listed as the 56th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.[1]
Biography
Early life
Novakovic is of Serbian descent.[2] Phebe Novakovic graduated from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1988.[3][4]
Career
She worked for the Central Intelligence Agency.[3] From 1997 to 2001, she worked for the United States Department of Defense.[3][4]
She joined General Dynamics in 2001.[4] She became President and Chief Operation Officer in 2012.[4] She has served as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of General Dynamics since January 2013.[3][4][5][6]
She has sat on the Board of Directors of Abbott Laboratories since 2010.[5] As of 2015, she is listed as the 56th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.[1] rising from 65th position in 2014.
Personal life
She is married.[3] In 2012, she earned US$6,887,772.[4] As CEO in 2014, she earned 18.99 M, a majority of which is in company equity.[7]
