Pradeep Barot (born 1953) is a sarod maestro based in Bombay, India. Born to a gifted clarionet player Mohan lal Barot, Pradeep from a young age displayed immense musical talent.
At the age of fourteen, Barot was accepted as a student by the legendary sarodya Vasant Rai. For five years Vasant taught Barot and groomed him to be a formidable performer. After 1969 Vasant decided to concentrate on his career in the west and was unable to continue teaching Barot, and so referred the young student to Smt Annapurna Devi who was Vasants gurus daughter. Hearing Barot Annapurna Devi was impressed, and accepted him as a pupil. Barot still continues his training with Annapurana.
Barot has established himself as one of the leading Indian classical musicians of his generation, and is the director of music of the Films Division Mumbai. Barot is also an accomplished teacher.
