Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg (given names: Alexandra Joséphine Teresa Charlotte Marie Wilhelmine; born 16 February 1991) is the fourth child and only daughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.
She has three older brothers – Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Prince Félix and Prince Louis, and one younger – Prince Sébastien
Early life and education
Alexandra's godparents are Michel, 14th Prince of Ligne, and Princess Maria-Anna Galitzine, born an Archduchess of Austria.
Princess Alexandra attended primary school at Angelsberg and finished her secondary education at the Lycée Vauban in Luxembourg. She received her baccalauréat with honors in the literature stream.[1] She then attended university in the United States at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Royal role
Excluded from the line of succession from birth until 2011, when absolute primogeniture was adopted in respect to Grand Duke Henri's descendants, she is currently fourth in the line. Prince Louis gave up his place in the line of succession when he married Tessy Antony.
Princess Alexandra takes part in major royal events such as National Day celebrations and the closing of the Octave, as well as attendance at royal family weddings and baptisms. [2] She was a bridesmaid at the 2013 marriage of her brother Prince Félix of Luxembourg to Claire Lademacher.
She undertakes occasional solo engagements, for example visiting a sports day for school students with disabilities. [3]
Princess Alexandra is the godmother to Prince Louis and Princess Tessy's son, Prince Gabriel de Nassau (b. 2006) and Prince Félix and Princess Claire's daughter, Princess Amalia of Nassau (b. 2014).

- ↑ The Arrêté Grand-Ducal of 21 Septembre 1995 established that the title of Prince/Princess of Luxembourg is reserved for the children of the sovereign and the heir to the throne. It also stated that the descendants in male lineage of the sovereign should be styled as Royal Highnesses and titled Prince/Princess of Nassau with qualification.
In 1986, Grand Duke Jean renounced the title Prince/Princesse de Bourbon de Parme for himself and his family, when his eldest son, then-Hereditary Grand Duke Henri married Maria-Theresa Mestre. The reason for this was that the Duke of Parma, Carlos Hugo, ruled the marriage unequal in 1981, as well as the marriage of Prince Jean to Hélène Suzanna Vestur in 1987, for which he had renounced his rights to Luxembourg in 1986. In 1995, Grand Duke Jean repealed the decree of 1986 that renounced the Bourbon-Parma title. - ↑ Orders for services to the Royal House - description at the website of the Dutch Royal House (Dutch language) : "Princesses (daughters of the Heads of the House of Nassau) receive the order at majority age (18), as decided in 1984 by Queen Beatrix and Grand-Duke Jean"
